Stan Yee
Our History
I started in a career in banking with the Bank of New Zealand in 1976. I quickly rose through the ranks to Officer in Charge of Molesworth Street Agency in 1980. I moved on to be a Loans Officer, and my accuracy was spotted and I was promoted to Checking Officer Prime Commercial Paper and 3IC of the Settlements Department of Group Treasury Division of the bank when New Zealand underwent deregulation of the economy in 1985. I returned to lending in 1987, as Senior Officer Loans and 2IC at the University of Auckland Campus branch. From there it was Senior Officer Loans at Auckland branch in 1989 and Senior Retail Banker and 2IC at Downtown branch in 1990. In 1994 I accepted a position as a Mobile Mortgage Manager with Countrywide Bank. In 1997 I accepted a position as Business Development Manager with AMP Banking, teaching insurance agents to sell home loans and thereby changing their titles to financial advisers. In 2003 I decided to join them, and became a contracted AMP Financial Adviser. In 2010 I left to pursue a career in teaching, as a Facilitator and Assessor with Adviserlink, teaching the National Certificate in Financial Services Level 5 to financial advisers in classrooms of 25 (in preparation for the implementation of the Financial Advisers Act in July 2011). In 2011 I then became a Relationship Adviser with the Public Trust, but after a year I realised that I preferred the freedom of self-employment and returned to be a Financial Adviser.
During all these career changes I also studied at night school to achieve various qualifications, never ceasing to work full time. In 1999 I commenced my MBA degree at the University of Auckland, being two years into my AMP Banking career as a Business Development Manager. I obtained advanced standing from Southern Cross University in 2003, a few months before switching to self-employment as an AMP Financial Adviser, and graduated in 2005.

This information will help you to choose a financial advice provider that best suits your needs. It will also provide some useful information about the financial advice provider that you choose.
1. Licensing: information about the licence held by the financial advice provider.
Stanley YEE holds a Class 1 Licence. A “Class 1” licence covers the service of a licence holder providing regulated financial advice to retail clients:
• on the licence holder’s own account; and/or
• if the licence holder is an entity, through a sole adviser practice structure.
This means that Stanley YEE is a licensed Financial Advice Provider under section 396 of the Financial Markets Conduct Act 2013, and is a ‘Financial Advice Provider’. As the licence holder, I can only provide advice on my own account and I cannot engage anyone else (including entities) to provide advice for me.
2. Duties: information about certain duties that the person giving advice is subject to.
As a Financial Advice Provider, I must comply with section 402 of the Financial Markets Conduct Act 2013 (including regulations made under that Act) and under the general law.
Conditions will include:
• a condition that the licensee or authorised body may, under the licence, only provide the market services or class of market services to which the licence relates and for which each person is authorised under the licence (see section 402(1)(a) of the FMC Act).
• conditions imposed by the FMA under section 403 of the FMC Act.
• any conditions imposed by regulations. As at 9th October 2023 the relevant regulations are the Financial Markets Conduct Amendment Regulations 2020 (the FMC Regulations).
The standard conditions apply in respect of a regulated financial advice provided to retail clients.
3. Services: information about the financial advice service that can be provided, including the financial advice products and product providers that can be advised on, and other limitations on the advice.
I have been granted a Class 1 Financial Advice Provider Licence to provide you with financial services in the following categories:
• KiwiSaver: To invest lump sums and/or regular payments for retirement into a mutual fund that hires a professional manager to deliver outstanding performance.
• Term Life Insurance: Life Insurance which provides coverage at a fixed rate of payments for a limited period of time.
• Trauma Cover: Provides a lump sum if you are diagnosed with a specific critical condition.
• Disability Insurance: Provides a lump sum in the event of total permanent disablement caused by accident or illness.
• Income Protection Insurance: Provides you with a monthly payment if you are unable to work, due to illness or injury, for more than ten hours a week.
• Business Insurance: A key person is an employee or contractor whose skills and expertise are essential to the function and profitability of your business. By insuring your key people, the company owns the policy and receives claim money that can compensate for the loss of a key person.
• Health Insurance: For treatment of non-urgent medical conditions can involve a long, uncomfortable wait.
• Home Loans: To refinance your existing home loan, buy your first home, buy an investment property, renovate, sell your home to buy another, or build your home.
• Commercial Property Finance: To buy a commercial property.
• Fire & General Insurance: House, Contents and Car Insurance. The cost of rebuilding your house or replacing your contents or car can be significant.
• Commercial Property Insurance: To insure your commercial property.
• Mortgage Insurance: To help protect you and your family if you become unable to pay your Mortgage payments. The cover is tailored to your loan balance and tracks the loan throughout its term, so you’re only paying for the cover that’s right for you.
